P e r s o n a l i t y

Chris' first and foremost character trait is that he, like his brother, is very enthusiastic about things. When he came to the petshop, he was feeling down and had withdrawn into himself, but he was quickly pulled out of his shell with the help of Count D and his pets. Chris is rather naive and very quick to trust. He is very dependable on other people, though Toutetsu is always telling him that he needs to stand up for himself more.

Chris is also very determined. If people tell him to do a task - and it might be as simple as getting Count D's groceries - he will consider it a vital mission. He will get a determined look in his eyes and will want to do the best job possible.

Bright is another thing that describes Chris. He is very good-natured, and will do anything with a big smile on his face. He makes the best of every situation, be it kidnapping or being held at gunpoint.

Chris was born many years after Leon was born. Leon was already a high school student. Because of complications at the birth, Chris' mother died, leaving Leon and Chris orphaned. Leon went for his own future, while his aunt and uncle took care of Chris, as they already had two daughters of their own. Chris managed reasonably well, until one niece told him that it was his fault his mother had died. Chris refused to speak after that point, becoming withdrawn and sad, until his uncle and aunt wanted to send him to a school for problem children. When Leon saw him again, however, Leon decided he didn't want Chris in such a school, and managed to talk Count D into taking Chris into the petshop instead.

Count D: Chris lives for a considerable period in Count D's pet shop. At first, he is scared, because he sees the pets in their human form. Very rapidly, however, Chris comes to love spending time in the pet shop. Chris doesn't speak, yet the animals and the Count can understand his thoughts, which is a great relief for him. Chris feels at home in the pet shop and greatly cares for Count D, and trusts him completely. D also cares for Chris a lot, protecting him whenever he gets into trouble, and together with Leon parents him (as if they're the parents XD).

Leon Orcot: Though they are brothers, there's a large age gap between them. Leon and Chris are estranged when Chris is introduced into the series, as he lived with his aunt and uncle because their parents were dead. After Chris moves in with Count D, Leon becomes more and more protective of him, and slowly starts to grow into his brotherly personality. Leon feels responsible for Chris and how he wasn't there for him, and is very protective of him. Chris, on the other hand, really looks up to his older brother (so much so, that at the end of the series it is revealed that Chris will become a detective as well, just like his older brother).

Q-chan: Chris and Q-chan are the best of friends, and always hang around each other. Chris doesn't see any of the animals in their animal shape, but only Q-chan remains animal-esque in his eyes. Q-chan is almost parental towards Chris at times, trying to stop the boy from following a foolish plan (such as visiting a room with wild lions o_o).

Toutetsu: T-chan is one of Chris' best friends. While a Toutetsu generally likes humans only for their flesh, he is very protective of Chris, and sees him as his equal (more or less). They joke together - even though at times Chris is pretty clueless, so he doesn't realise he's being mocked - but it's all in good fun. Toutetsu wants to bite and even kill people who want to hurt Chris.

Pon-chan: Pon-chan and Chris are very good friends. Pon-chan gets jealous whenever Chris likes another pet (especially a female one). Pon-chan can be a bit of a brat, but then again so can Chris, and they match each other quite well, each having fun playing with each other.

Honlon: Honlon is the other female animal recurring in PSOH. She cares greatly for Chris, which may be partially due to her heritage, with both traces of Leon and D within. She is rather bipolar due to her three personalities, and it freaks Chris out a little, but he is still kind to her and regards her as a very good and wise friend and advisor.

The Pets: Chris loves anyone, regardless of their appearance. He is cute in his naivete, but sometimes doesn't see why it's a bad idea to enter a room filled with snake-like animals. Chris sees the animals in their human form, and thinks of them all as friendly, if somewhat strange people. Generally, the pets in the shop take a liking to Chris, as they can communicate with each other, when other people cannot understand them.
